3 Ingredient Healthy Chocolate

With 3 main ingredients you can make homemade chocolates that are delicious and free from nasties!

 

We use raw cacao instead of cocoa in this recipe due to the multiple health benefits it brings.

Raw cacao is packed full of antioxidants - over 20 times more than blueberries! It is also high in magnesium and phytochemicals that can help lower LDL cholesterol and improve heart function.  So basically, this is pretty much medicine ;)

 

 The 3 main ingredients are:

1 cup of Cacao Butter

1/2 cup of Cacao

5 Tbsp of Maple Syrup

*We added a pinch of salt to bring out the chocolate flavour.

 

 

Directions:

 

In a saucepan bring approximately 2 inches of water to the boil. Place a glass bowl on top and add the cacao butter. Stir this until completely melted. Be careful not to let any steam or water into the butter as this will split your chocolate and you will end up with a grainy texture.

 

When melted take this off the heat and add the cocao and maple syrup. Stir until smooth.

 

Add in any extra bits of goodness if you choose.

 

Some ideas we like are:

Freeze dried berries

A sprinkle of cacao nibs

Peppermint Essential Oil

Chopped roasted Almonds or Cashews

Dried fruit

 

Pour into your chocolate mold and place into fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes.
