Gingerbread Porridge

When the weather is cold, one of the most warming, nourishing breakfast choices is the humble bowl of oats. But this my friends, is something special. The warming spices added to this recipe will be sure to get the circulation flowing and warm you up from the inside. Plus, it is absolutely delicious - need I say more?




Serves 1 (but easily doubled/tripled etc. to feed the fam)


1/4 cup rolled oats

1/4 tsp ground ginger

1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

pinch of ground nutmeg

pinch of ground cloves

pinch of sea salt

1/2 cup of almond or coconut milk

1/2 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup (to serve)



Add oats, spices, salt and milk to a saucepan and stir over medium heat. Turn to low and continue stirring for a further 5 minutes or until your perfect porridge consistency is reached. Add a splash more milk if it becomes too thick and you want to thin it out a bit.

Drizzle maple over the top to serve. We also love adding chopped nuts and seeds for extra beneficial fats, protein and micro-nutrients.
